Team practices are essential. They facilitate teamwork, enhance tactical knowledge, and provide a realistic experience of what to expect in a game. Private lessons should only enhance your team practices, not replace them. So why are private lessons worth it?
Throughout a team practice, you may not get many touches on the ball. Maybe you struggle in a certain area, shooting for example, but your coach spends time on something the majority need to improve on rather than just a few players. You may have goals off the ball, such as strength and agility training. Private lessons provide a lot more touches on the ball and allow you to improve your skills in the areas you specifically want/need to work on. A practice completely tailored towards you as a player. As much as a team practice can be focused on the tactical area of the game, a private lesson can focus on the technical skills involved in soccer. Private lessons are a convenient way to enhance your individual skills, which will in the end also benefit your team. You can attend future practices and games feeling confident in the skills you are executing.
